The Governing Body The Maharaja

The Governing body has the powers and functions to review the broad policies and programmes of the University, pass resolutions on the annual report, accounts, audit report, and advice the Government on any matter. It consists of the following:-

(1)	Chief Secretary to Government of Punjab:	Chairperson
(2)	Secretary, Department of Sports and Youth Services:	Member
(3)	Secretary, Department of Finance:	Member
(4)	Secretary, Department of Higher Education:	Member
(5)	Vice-Chancellor MBPSPU:	Member
(6)	Other ex-officio members: The Proctor. The Deans of Schools and Dean of Students’ Welfare. The Finance Officer, the Librarian, one Senior Warden by rotation, and the President, Alumni Association. Heads of Departments or Professors who are members of the Academic and Activity Council.
(7)	Other Members, who shall hold office for three years: One representative from each institution recognized by or affiliated to the University, nominated by the Vice-Chancellor on recommendations of the Head of the Institution (15). Not more than ten persons from amongst eminent sports scientists, sports academicians, sports administrators, and sports persons of eminence. (These are being nominated by the Government.)
